When our Little Man was actually little.

A little introduction to our cat Little Man

Two and a half years ago he was ‘relocated’ to our neighborhood when he was a few months old. His first family was not able to keep him in the lifestyle he wanted to become accustomed to. He met me while on one of his walkabouts. He could see at once I was an easy mark. He walked right up to me and licked my hand (the chicks dig me – LM). I took him to the doctor and he was  treated for all of the various lifeforms that had attached themselves to him. My few attempts at finding a home for him were for naught. For I really did not want to give him up. He is a sexy beast who loves his tummy rubbed and actually does play fetch.  Little Man was suppose to be a temporary name, but it has stuck. The only issue now is that he is no longer, um, little. His last visit to the vet had him weighting in at 16 lbs, but a diet has brought him down to 13. We are in the process of re-naming, but have yet to find the perfect one. Jeff and I will take all reasonable suggestions and present them to Little Man for consideration.

Backyard roses and more

Well the wait is over. We now know what color roses we have: beautiful yellow and scarlet. The yellow roses are especially plentiful. I cut about half a dozen for a little display on our coffee table. I also just finished planting our (Jeff’s) own little vegetable garden of lettuce, tomatoes and peppers. And the hanging baskets of petunias are loving the 8 hours of sunlight (When Portland has an actual day of sunlight.) It’s 50 degrees and raining today. Could be worse, we could be back on the east coast 95 and 100% humidity!

Craving CornNuts

I’ve rediscovered a childhood snack: CornNuts. On an mild mannered grocery trip, I walked by the bulk food section and noticed a display of regular, bbq and cajun CornNuts. Hmm, I wondered, why not try them. I remember liking them as a kid. So I got some of each. My taste test proved regular are my favorite, followed closely by bbq. Emily liked bbq the best. And now we’re hooked. Curse you corn nuts!

Our newest addition! Roomba!

Jeff bought a Roomba and like the microwave oven and tv remote, we don’t know how we managed this long without one. The entire first floor of our new home is not carpeted. And the Swifer requires that you not be laying on the couch for it to work. But not Roomba! He cleans up to four rooms freeing Jeff and me to do other stuff. Like the all-important laying on the couch. We love Roomba!
