We moved into our new home today. A three bedroom town home in a nice established neighborhood with lot of sidewalks and a playground. We are also near a walking trail and creek. The back “yard” is a 24 x 20 foot patio that gets sun all day long. So much different from the last place. This one gets almost too much light. I am looking forward to creating a “secret garden”. Well, I need to go get the kitchen unpacked and then I am off to Lowes!
We are just about finished packing and ready to move. I can’t believe we lived here for 5 years. It is the longest Jeff and I have lived in one place since 1992!
We had a wonderful Sunday brunch with our friends Kristen and Mac. We had a nice spread of spinach quiche, herbed potatoes, bacon and cherry turnovers. Oh, did I mention we had bacon and um also bacon. I live with a vegetarian, so bacon is very rare treat. We worked off our meal with a walk to the park to watch the kids play on the jungle gyms. Ok, we played on the playground as well, but we didn’t have fun.
We met with our Boys & Girls Aid Society adoption agency agent. Too many a’s in that sentence, phew. Our agent Elizabeth seems really nice. We got our fingerprints taken, which is a first for me. I was waiting for someone to say ‘book em’, but no one did. Then we went over the application materials. With the hardest part being the 121 questionnaire. So now we have a deadline of three months to complete all the paper work. Or else, I guess they will use those fingerprints to come find us and pester us until we finish.
We visited our friends Lisa and Chris and their son Andrew. We had a Mexican fiesta with quesadillas and guacamole. They showed us their cool Ikea pieces including a wall to wall bookcase. Then the ladies sat in the backyard and chatted while the boys played video games.
