Your comments on cat-proofing the Christmas tree reminded me of when I was in high school and our cat decided that our Christmas tree was really just a giant scratch post. I would guess he managed to get about half way up before he knocked the entire thing over — ornaments, lights, gifts and all. It was quite a mess, and I can still hear my mother’s voice screaming at the top of her lungs. Ah, good times …
