Disneyland: Halloween

The main reason for visiting Disneyland during Halloween is the park-wide decorations, the costumes of both staff and guests, and most of all the Haunted Mansion. A great experiential ride anytime of the year, but during this season it is tricked out with the Nightmare Before Christmas theme. The attention to detail is mind blowing. We went on it twice (thank you Fast Pass!) But I could have gone multiple times more. I was glad when the ride stopped in the middle so I could take a look more closely at the decorations, exhibits and lighting effects. We got some pretty cool pictures.

Disneyland: Food

Theme parks are generally not known for their food. But we found a few culinary highlights worth noting.

Beignets:
I have long quested for these mysterious pastries showcased on various movies. Now I got my chance to satisfy my curiosity in standard square or Mickey shapes. (Be careful not to breath in the powdered sugar – coughing will ensue.)

Icecream:
A sundae in a collectible cartoon plastic recepticle, sure why not.

Fries:
Battered herb crusted pommes frites with tangy dipping sauce.

Mango smoothie:
Our hotel was adjacent to a Denny’s, which became our regular watering whole for sustenance, particularly their vitamin C cool blast fruity smoothie.

Disneyland: Fireworks

Spectacular nightly firework shows are the norm here easily outperforming every July 4th we’ve ever seen.
