Hood River Lunch

Our tummies were rumbling, so we drove up to Hood River and drove around to scope a possible lunch venue. Rachel made the final pick and she choose well. The pub restaurant was build up a hill with a scenic waterfall feature at street level. The view from our table spanned the river valley.

Here dad and I began our week long taste testing of draft rootbeer and clam chowder.

Multnomah Falls

My favorite part of taking people on the scenic gorge drive is surprising them with the Multnomah Falls excursion. It certainly is an eyeful aimed to impress. I’m pretty sure my parents were awed by the gorge experience. I certainly never get tired of the trip.

They also enjoyed the Multnomah Falls giftshop, where they found a great deal on jackets. Which would come in handy on another trip later this week – (hint Mount Hood).

Beaverton Farmer’s Market

I had a hunch that Rachel would just love our local farmer’s market. And I was right. ‘They have cut flowers, plants, seafood, crafts, food stands, plus produce. I wish the Milford farmer’s market had this.’ she said.

First stop was the kettle corn stand. You will see us munching on this bag for the rest of the trip – especially on the car rides.

Next, Rachel bought fresh peas in the shell. You can see a picture of Emily and Rachel shucking them later that evening.

They even had a scrapple stand – for those of you not in the know, scrapple is usually only found on the east coast.

Parents Visit

My parents Lynn and Rachel have come out to visit us for a whole week. We are excited and so is Jasmine – whose birthday happens to be this week.

This is their very first time in the Northwest. I just hope they have enough energy for my signature whirlwind tour.

I debated on whether giving them a ‘jetlag’ rest day today. But they voted to start the ‘Jeff’ tour right away.

Jasmine and I headed to their hotel. We wandered around the very pretty grounds – taking in the water feature. I had forgotten their room number, but Jasmine knew it. I made her knock on the door to see if she was right – and she was. She made sure to remind of her ‘rightness’ for the rest of the week.

We went back to our place for a tour. Jasmine showed them her room and sat them down to look at her life book. We also watched a video of her fabulous dance in the school talent show.

Ok, enough dilly dallying. On with the tour…
