Dance Recital

The big night had arrived – Jasmine’s debut tap dance performance on the big stage. She even did her own makeup on the drive downtown. She was both nervous and excited. When it was her turn to dance and the curtain lifted she seemed to have forgotten most of the steps, but she did a great job of smiling the whole time.

There were about 20 dance classes showing their stuff in a manner that parents enjoyed but were perhaps not quite ready for the public. Many of the routines were pretty much little dancers running or wandering around the stage randomly.

However, near the end of the night, the adult classes took stage, and they were enjoyable. The senior citizen tap dance show was a marvel, followed by a nice ballet, and concluding with humorous acts from the Monty Python show, Spamalot.

Saturday Outing – Jefferson Dancers etc.

Jasmine and I had a busy day. First she had to clean her room – which took awhile – mostly because she throws all her clothes on the floor. After that, we headed out to do some mother’s day shopping. Jasmine picked out a rose, a crazy felt pen and a balloon. And of course right after we pay for the items, a downpour starts up outside. So we waited a bit for it to ease up – but we still got pretty wet.

Then we went to a couple stores to try to find ‘dark honey’ – whatever that is – to help with Emily’s coughing illness per the recommendation of the nurse hotline.

We got home kinda of late, and had to rush to make lunch before heading out again. Jasmine helped me make tunafish by cutting up celery and pickles, she also prepared the toast. When we sat down to eat, she kept getting sidetracked and wasn’t eating. Even though I know that saying hurrying up to a child never works I still said ‘we have eat fast so we can get to the concert on time.’ She said ‘I know dad, but staring at this grocery bag is really interesting.’

We did arrive to the Jefferson Dancer concert on time – barely. The show was amazing as usual.

Afterwards we walked down to the Pioneer Courthouse Square where Jasmine played on the stairs and admired the waterfalls. On the way home we picked up dinner from Five Guys Burgers and Fries – we liked that they serve free roasted peanuts while waiting.
